Our Cooperative's Mission

(a) Generally, to promote the welfare of its members by utilizing their united funds and efforts for the acquisition and distribution of food and other products, and for the performance of related services.

(b) Specifically, to operate a local market place that emphasizes product quality, customer satisfaction, and a healthy working environment, with a focus on natural foods and a respect for the environment.

About the Putney Food Co-op

Shopping at the Co-op is more of a social event than a daily chore; neighbors can meet each other, catch up on local events, or find something of interest on the bulletin board.

This past summer, we hosted one of the monthly Putney Community Dinners, making it a "Localvore" event to promote local foods. We had a record breaking turnout of 230 community members attending. (That's about 10% of the population!)

In 1992, the Co-op membership purchased land and built our beautiful 4,000 square foot store. We plan to be here, growing and changing with Putney, for the next 65 years and beyond!
